On the Westside of Atlanta the English Avenue & Vine City neighborhoods, locally known as “The Bluffs” is named as the heroine capital of the southeast. According to Wikipedia The English Avenue/Vine City area has been ranked as the #1 most dangerous neighborhood in Atlanta and #5 in the United States. Violent crime and drug activities have taken over the community that is now mostly boarded up and where an open air drug marketplace has now grown. The City of Atlanta together with philanthropist and community organizations have committed to revitalize this community and give the residents there an opportunity to rise above the poverty, drugs and crime and bring real change to this neighborhood. There is a master plan that includes many facets including providing five Atlanta Police officers new homes they would be moving into in the community as part of an attempt to integrate law enforcement as neighbors.
At-Promise is at the center of the community as a state-of-the-art learning and community facility with specialized services for youth and a gathering place for residents, group activities and other purposes. Located in historic English Avenue, the At-Promise Center is an opportunity to participate in the revitalization efforts of this community. This center is the cornerstone of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s youth crime reduction initiative. This facility will serve up to 150 youth per year, with specialized programming for youth and young adults ages 12 to 24 who reside on Atlanta’s Westside. The Atlanta Police Foundation was key in bringing Donors together to develop this $2 Million dollar complex. Donors such as The Arthur Blank Family Foundation, Georgia Power, GE, The Coca-Cola Foundation Atlanta Hawks Foundation, Chick-Fil-A Foundation and others.
ISONetwork, an Atlanta based Security Integrator was given the opportunity to participate in this project and donated a fully integrated State-of-the-Art Video and Gunshot detection system to the At-Promise Youth Center. ISO approached the industries premiere and most respected security manufacturers and asked for their participation in the project and to donate their product to add the highest level of security to the Youth Center to which they truly stepped up to the occasion. Shooter Detection Systemsdonated Guardian – the worlds #1 active shooter detection system which was installed to notify the Atlanta Police Department, and officials the moment any potential gunshots may be fired at the youth center. The Guardian system was integrated with the worlds #1 Video Management Software – Genetec’s Security Center to synergize into the most robust video and active shooter detection system available today. Both Shooter Detection Systems Situational Awareness Client and Genetec’s Security Center Federation both activate at Atlanta’s VIC (Video Integration Center) allowing the APD to receive notification of “Shots Fired” within milliseconds along with live and recorded video feeds from the Security Cameras donated by Vivotek and AXIS to Pan toward the shooters location and instantly give video feed to the police department providing instant situational awareness.
Today the city of Atlanta along with its partners are insuring that the children of this community are not considered “At Risk” children but rather are “At Promise” with an opportunity to rise above the violence and drugs that for too long has plagued this neighborhood.
ISO Network would like to express its deepest gratitude to its manufacturers for assisting in providing the very best technology available today to protect the youth of English Avenue and Vine City neighborhoods:
